Talk of the town

Talk is supposed to be cheap. For Elizabeth Powell, it’s never been more valuable. Or more abundant.

Powell, the girl-next-door diva ruling Montreal’s effervescent Land of Talk, realized just how much her voice was worth when she lost it¬†last year. Luckily for LoT fans, she’s fully healed and has infused her incredibly infectious vocals into the band’s new EP, Fun and Laughter. The four tracks are a fitting complement to 2008’s Some Are Lakes, a beautifully gritty, melancholy, engrossing album that still has people talking.

And positive word of mouth is something you can’t put a price on.
